TOPAC RAISES $16,500.00 FOR TINY TOTS

Ninety golfers teed off in brilliant sunshine for Tiny Tots at the Caledon Golf and Country Club near Toronto on 20 July.
This fund raising golf tournament was organized by TOPAC (Tour Operators Promoting Africa in Canada) and the Canada South Africa Chamber of Business and was generously supported by both the South African business community and the Canadian retail and wholesale travel industry.

Money raised at this annual event supports the efforts originally initiated in 1988 by Marianne Schaubeck of Victoria B.C. The Mazinyane Pre School Project in Lilydale South Africa provides much needed schooling for young children in an extremely poor area.
“Pre schools were almost non-existent in impoverished areas and children are starved of basic learning skills. Wednesday, July 20th marked a historic day for these Tiny Tots in South Africa when we raised $16,500.00 at this fun-filled golf tournament.” said Firdosh Bulsara, event co-ordinator and General Manager of Africa Experts. “TOPAC and the South Africa Chamber of Business will continue to support such initiatives for the betterment of “tiny tots” in Africa” he confirmed.

Following the tournament, evening festivities raised the number of guests to 110 and included Liana Hattingh from the South African High Commission, Edith Baxter, Canadian Travel Press and Travel Courier and Dave Perkins of Toronto Star. Live auctions, prizes for golfers and a Grand Prize Raffle Draw for two round trip tickets to South Africa courtesy of South African Airways and Reservations Africa rounded off the successful event.

TOPAC and the South African Chamber would like to thank the sponsors: Reservations Africa, Goway Travel, Canadian Travel Press/Travel Courier who were Gold Sponsors and Airliners, South African Airways, Uniglobe Travel (Eastern Canada), Trek Holidays, Travel Week, Travel Studio, Wild Africa Safaris, Lion World Tours, and Tourcan Vacations who each sponsored a hole. A big thank you is also extended to the many volunteers and prize donors.

TOPAC’s 2006 “Tee Off for Tiny Tots” golf day will be held on Tuesday 11 July, 2006 at the Caledon Golf and Country Club. For sponsorship information and registration please contact Firdosh Bulsara at firdosh@goway.com
